‘Queen Mary’                                                                            (click on the image to return to the previous page)

Launched in 1936, the Queen Mary is perhaps the most famous of all the British liners, was conceived and born in the years of the Great Depression.

It soon became a symbol of hope that he lean years would soon be over for Cunard and shipbuilders.

Beautifully fitted out in the style of her time – art deco – she was a firm favorite among regular trans-Atlantic passengers.

My painting depicts her final departure from New York in September 1967.

This was the start of her last cruise of 14,559 miles to Long Beach, California via Cape Horn.
