The ill-fated White Star liner, so tragically lost on the 15th April 1912, was the largest passenger steamship in the world. She was also one of the most luxurious liners ever to sail the Atlantic.

She was deemed unsinkable at the time but, on her maiden voyage, struck an iceberg and slowly sank in a calm sea with the loss of 1522 lives.

After many attempts she was finally located. In 1985 BBC television showed the first photos of the Titanic on the sea bed at a depth of 12,460 feet.
